And Portugal is one of the most peaceful countries in the world.

The Global Peace Index attempted, based on 23 indicators, to build a concept of peace and create a list of the most peaceful countries in the world.

The 23 indicators are included in three major groups: the level of social security, the existence of domestic and international conflicts, and the degree of militarization.

The list of the Global Peace Index, created by The Economist magazine in partnership with the University of Sydney, Australia, the University of London, United Kingdom, and the University of Uppsala and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute Sweden.

The winner was already expected: Iceland is considered the most peaceful country in the world since 2008. Portugal has fallen one place over last year and ranks 4th.
